The 1st Brigade is garrisoned in Holstebro and is the reaction force of the army, assigned to NATO Response Force.
The red flag is parted by an off-centred white cross. In canton is the golden badge of the brigade, a lion rampant surrounded by an irregular, holding a shield with the cypher of King Christian 5 by his sinister forepaw and a scimitar by his risen dexter forepaw. The colour of department was approved on 30 November 2006.

**2nd Brigade Colour (2. Brigades Embedsfane)**

The 2nd Brigade is garrisoned in Slagelse and consists of five battalions and is among others responsible for training of the army´s reserve staff.
The red flag is parted by an off-centred white cross. In canton is the golden badge of the brigade, a shield parted by a cross patty, surrounded by a wreath and superimposing a sword in pale. The colour of department was approved on 21 September 2006. Before it belonged to the Danish International Brigade (DIB) (Danish: Den Danske Internationale Brigade)
